The book Unglued is probably the best gift my best girl friend has given me in a while. As I read it I felt so blessed. This book came into my life at the right time. It is one thing reading the book but I think the real challenge will come when I have to practice what I read. I feel now is the time for me to become "unglued".
This is a spiritual book, which carries the message that you were made by God. He will never give up on you and he will always love you. It does not matter if you still possess a bad attitude and have really bad reactions to situations some days. You should strive to improve and you will automatically find yourself growing spiritually. I must say I was not aware that the way I reacted to small things in life, like a small mess in my house, could be an issue until I read this book. If you have a hard time letting your raw emotions make bad decisions for you then this book is for you.
Lysa TerKeurst talks about how so many times you allow your emotions to control how you see things in a particular moment in time. I agree with her when she says that your feelings should be "indicators, not dictators". She also goes on to explain that you will never be perfect as a human being, but you should allow yourself to progress through life without being perfect.
Who is Lysa TerKeurst? She is not only a New York Times bestselling author but also a nationally recognized speaker who strives to help normal women live a life full of adventure and faith in God. Lysa also heads the Proverbs 31 Ministries as president. She has 15 books that she has authored so far and has a daily online devotional that targets over half a million women from all over the world. She has also been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show and Good Morning America. Her latest book 'Unglued" is a well written book that she manages to present to the reader in an engaging way. It is easy to read and is relevant to life as we are living it now. She is not afraid to admit that she too does not have this 'thing' called life figured out. Lysa even makes use of real life examples from her own life to show use how active the word of God is in our everyday lives. The book has very practical, easy to follow advice for how to respond more appropriately in those situations when we may become 'unglued'! I believe that this book is going to set a lot of people free, especially those who have been controlled by their emotions.
Unglued is a book that both encourages and empowers by showing you how to deal with those emotions. I am positive that if you apply what she reveals you are bound to improve your relationships with most of the people in your life. Although, mostly targeted towards women, everyone can learn something from this book. I will end this review with a quote from the book, "Renewing our minds with new thoughts is crucial.
